The Central Darfur State Emergency Rooms Coordination Council provided sports support to the local football association, including sports equipment and supplies distributed among ten clubs across the state, as part of its efforts to support young people and strengthen social cohesion.
Abather Al-Tijani, a member of the Central Darfur Emergency Room, told Mashaweer that “the initiative is part of the council’s vision to use sports as a civic tool for building social peace and restoring the social fabric by providing a safe and encouraging environment where young people can engage in sports activities and promote values of cooperation and fair competition among different components of society.”
He emphasized that “targeting the sports sector stems from the importance of young people as a key pillar in promoting stability and strengthening the values of peaceful coexistence.”
He added that “supporting sports activities can help create spaces that bring young people together and strengthen communication and interaction among them.”
