Bloody incident in Omdurman: soldier killed, others injured in armed clash

Omdurman – Mashawir

Sources within the Sudanese police told Al Jazeera that a limited altercation between an armed individual and a security force was contained during routine security operations at Sabreen Market in Omdurman. The situation is now stable and fully under control.

The sources said the clash occurred between members of the joint forces and the Sabreen joint campaign unit, resulting in one fatality and three injuries. The incident reportedly began with a verbal dispute between the two sides—around 10 personnel were involved—before escalating into an exchange of gunfire.

They added that two members of the joint campaign were injured: Police Corporal Mujtaba Ahmed Sami Jaddou, who was wounded in the right hand and belongs to police operations, and soldier Habib El-Din Alaa El-Din, who sustained shrapnel injuries to the neck and is affiliated with the General Intelligence Service.

Another member of the joint forces was also injured in the neck and was transferred to Al-Nau Hospital for treatment, but later died from his injuries.

The sources noted that the body was transferred to Al-Thawra Police Station (54) to complete legal procedures.
