Five civilians were killed on Saturday in a drone strike carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which hit a vehicle in the Greater Khartoum area. The attack is the second of its kind in the Sudanese capital this week, according to a rights group.
Drone attacks by both the Sudanese army and the RSF have intensified across the country in recent months, with some strikes killing dozens of people in a single incident.
The group “Emergency Lawyers,” which documents violations during the ongoing war since 2023, said an RSF drone struck a civilian car on the Jamooiya Triangle road on Saturday morning in southern Omdurman, killing all passengers on board.
The group added that the vehicle was coming from the Sheikh Al-Siddiq area in White Nile State, about 90 kilometers south of Khartoum.
A security source and eyewitnesses told Agence France-Presse that a drone strike last Tuesday targeted a hospital in the Jabal Awliya area, about 40 kilometers south of central Khartoum.
This marked the first such attack on the capital in months, after the army had regained control of it from the RSF a year ago.
