Health of Sudanese Journalists Detained by Warring Parties Deteriorates

Kampala – Mashawir

The Sudanese Journalists Syndicate revealed what it described as a “serious” deterioration in the health conditions of journalists Moammar Ibrahim and Essam Mohamed Haroun inside detention facilities run by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The syndicate stated that journalist Moammar Ibrahim is suffering from a critical health decline inside one of the RSF detention centers, where he is being completely denied medical care or even basic medical examinations, posing a direct threat to his life.

This comes after eight months of what the syndicate described as arbitrary detention in “Dagrees” prison in the city of Nyala, South Darfur, under conditions lacking the most basic standards of health and human dignity.

The syndicate also expressed deep concern over the deteriorating health condition of colleague Essam Mohamed Haroun, whose place of detention remains unknown.

In addition, the syndicate voiced grave concern over the worsening health condition of photojournalist Abdel Aziz Mahmoud Saleh Arja, who has been detained in the city of Port Sudan in eastern Sudan since April 29 of last year.
