Massad Boulos: Trump Is Interested in Resolving the Sudan Crisis
Washington – Mashawir
Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, said that U.S. President Donald Trump is committed to helping resolve the crisis in Sudan.
He stressed that Sudan continues to face what he described as “the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.”
In a post on the social media platform X, Boulos said he discussed developments in Sudan with Romaric Roignan, Director for North Africa and the Middle East at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
He noted that both sides reviewed ongoing efforts to address the Sudanese crisis, highlighting U.S.-French cooperation at the Berlin Conference on Sudan and the Joint Statement of Principles endorsed by the United States, France, and 20 other countries and organizations.
Since April 2023, Sudan has been engulfed in a war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The conflict has claimed tens of thousands of lives, forced approximately 4.5 million people to seek refuge outside the country, and displaced nearly 13 million people internally, creating what the United Nations has described as the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
