United Nations Condemns Civilian Killings in Sudan and Warns of Worsening Humanitarian Crisis

Washington – Mashawir

The United Nations has expressed deep concern over reports indicating that dozens of civilians were killed in Sudan during the Eid al-Adha holiday, as violence continues to escalate across the Kordofan and Darfur regions.

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said that the organization strongly condemns the targeting of civilians.

He noted that at least 10 civilians were killed in clashes in the town of Bara in North Kordofan, while more than 2,200 people have been displaced from South Kordofan in recent days.

As fighting continues across Sudan, UN agencies have also warned of a suspected cholera outbreak in Central Kordofan. Reported cases have reached approximately 300, with 77 suspected deaths linked to the disease.
