Thirteen civilians were killed and several others injured over Friday and Saturday as a result of drone strikes targeting various areas in Hamrat El Sheikh locality in North Kordofan State.
According to a statement issued by the organization Emergency Lawyers, a drone strike targeted the Abu Zaeima market in Hamrat El Sheikh on Saturday morning, killing 11 civilians and injuring dozens of others. The group noted that the preliminary casualty toll could rise further.
The statement added that the attack occurred less than 24 hours after similar drone strikes targeted villages and civilian vehicles in the same area, resulting in the deaths of at least two people and injuries to five others.
The rights group described the incidents as part of a continuing escalation of attacks affecting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
