Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for African and Arab Affairs, stated: “Today, following the successful conclusion of the consultations hosted by the Quintet Mechanism with Sudanese political actors, the United States is proud to join 12 partner countries and organizations in issuing a joint statement on the political track in Sudan.”
In a post on X, Boulos said that “advancing an inclusive political process led by civilian forces is a key element in achieving lasting and sustainable peace in Sudan. We strongly support the important efforts being undertaken by the Quintet Mechanism to prepare for a Sudanese dialogue and establish a pathway toward a broader transitional process.”
He added, “This statement builds on the significant outcomes of the Berlin Conference on Sudan held last April, which brought together a large number of countries and organizations to agree on guiding principles for achieving a peaceful and sustainable resolution to the conflict in Sudan. The conference also mobilized humanitarian support amounting to $1.5 billion.”
Boulos further stated: “The United States will continue working with its partners around the world and with relevant Sudanese stakeholders to secure a humanitarian ceasefire, ensure sustained humanitarian access, and support an independent, inclusive, transparent, and civilian-led transitional process.”
He concluded by reaffirming that “the United States remains committed to continued cooperation and coordination with international and regional partners in support of efforts to end the war, alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, and help build a future characterized by peace, stability, and democratic civilian governance.”
