The head of the Emergency and Crisis Committee in Ad Dabbah Locality, Northern State, Al-Hassan Ibrahim Hamid, said that the Al-Afad Displacement Centre is currently sheltering more than 4,000 displaced people, with children making up about 30 percent of the population. Among them are adolescents who have lost their parents. He added that an estimated 10,000 displaced people are living outside the camp.
Hamid stressed that children urgently require support in the areas of protection, education, and healthcare, with a particular focus on mental health and psychosocial support.
He also called for strengthening health services at Ad Dabbah Hospital, the locality’s main healthcare facility.
Meanwhile, Baha El-Din Dafallah, a representative of the General Secretariat of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, said the visit aims to coordinate and introduce a child protection project that will also provide health support for children.
He noted that the project is still in the information-gathering phase and is intended to serve displaced children, children from host communities, new arrivals, and transit migrants.
