Floodwaters Sweep Away Hundreds of Homes in White Nile State

Rabak – Mashaweer

Heavy to moderate rainfall affected most Sudanese states on Tuesday, lasting for several hours and accompanied by strong winds that triggered flash floods and significantly reduced visibility in several areas.

Popular committees in Rabak, the capital of White Nile State, announced that 346 homes had collapsed as a result of the heavy rains that struck the area over the past few days. Damage assessments are still ongoing.

The committees reported that floodwaters continue to surround homes in several neighborhoods across the city, raising concerns that the number of affected houses could increase if the rainfall continues.

In Khartoum, the state’s Rain, Flash Flood, and Flood Risk Reduction Mechanism raised its preparedness level to the highest alert, with emergency operations rooms activated across all localities.
