Humanitarian Assistance Planned for Displaced People in South Kordofan

Kadugli – Mashaweer

The Government of South Kordofan State has announced the formation of a specialized technical committee to conduct a comprehensive and accurate registration of displaced households, host families, and vulnerable low-income households eligible for humanitarian assistance. The initiative aims to improve humanitarian response mechanisms, ensure aid reaches those most in need, and support the implementation of a direct cash assistance program for displaced people across the state.

Speaking to Mashaweer, Essam El-Din Hasab Al-Nabi, a representative of the State Humanitarian Aid Commission, said the plan is based on mapping the distribution of displaced and host families throughout the state, as well as registering displaced people from South Kordofan currently residing in Khartoum State, in order to direct assistance according to actual needs.

He added that the committee is also overseeing arrangements for the receipt and distribution of 15,000 sacks of sorghum allocated to the state as part of the humanitarian response.

Hasab Al-Nabi noted that government departments responsible for social welfare, social protection, solidarity, and poverty reduction already maintain an integrated database that will support the registration and beneficiary identification process.

He emphasized that beneficiaries will be selected according to 17 approved vulnerability criteria designed to identify the most vulnerable and deserving households, thereby promoting fairness and ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches eligible recipients directly.
