The Sudan Doctors Network reported that the rural Sodari Hospital in North Kordofan State was attacked and looted, with its infrastructure, medical equipment, and supplies affected. The network accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of being responsible for the attack.
In a statement, the network said the hospital had been providing healthcare services to more than 50,000 families before the outbreak of the war. However, the attack and looting resulted in the destruction of the hospital and deprived residents of essential healthcare services.
It added that targeting healthcare facilities and looting their equipment threatens the remaining capacity of the health system to provide services to civilians.
The network noted that such practices constitute a violation of international rules and norms that prohibit attacks on medical facilities and healthcare workers.
The Sudan Doctors Network called on the international community, humanitarian organizations, and human rights groups to condemn what it described as violations, and to work toward protecting and rehabilitating healthcare facilities in conflict-affected areas.
