Government sources told Asharq Bloomberg that the U.S. administration has renewed its push for its proposal to the Sudanese government aimed at restoring peace and ending the war, and has called for it to be signed.
The sources said the U.S. proposal includes an immediate 90-day humanitarian truce across Sudan.
They added that the proposal calls for the establishment of a UN mechanism, with the participation of the African Union and the League of Arab States, to monitor the truce.
The proposal calls for negotiations on a permanent ceasefire and security arrangements.
It also gives priority, during the first phase, to limited withdrawals of forces from positions in North Darfur and North Kordofan.
The proposal calls for preserving a unified national military institution accountable to an elected civilian government, as well as launching a comprehensive Sudanese-led civilian national dialogue and a civilian-led transitional political process.
