Thousands of displaced people in Kornoy Locality, northwest of El Fasher in North Darfur State, are facing deteriorating humanitarian conditions amid severe shortages of food, drinking water, healthcare services, and shelter materials. The situation has prompted local officials to issue urgent appeals to humanitarian organizations and agencies to intervene.
Omar Suleiman Dhabiha, Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid in Kornoy Locality, said that “the displaced people in the locality are not limited to those arriving from areas within Kornoy itself, but also include displaced people from other localities and areas, including Kutum, Argoori, Ambru, Muzbad, Kulbus, and Dar Sueni.”
Dhabiha explained that “the scale of humanitarian needs has exceeded the capacity of the local authorities to respond, amid severe shortages of food, water, healthcare services, and shelter.”
He called on humanitarian organizations and agencies to intervene urgently to provide essential supplies and address the widening gap in services and humanitarian assistance.
Mubarak Haroun Mohamed Adam, a member of the Kornoy Locality Emergency Room, said that “most of the displaced people arrived from Kamo, Qarsalba, Boba, Darma, Forawiya, Kornoy, Harmaba, Darang, Miske, Luka, Abu Qamra, and Ad Khair, following the deterioration of the security situation and an escalation in attacks targeting civilians, including drone attacks.”
