Deteriorating Security Forces 40,000 Displaced to Flee from Darfur and Al-Awainat Triangle
Reports – Mashawir

The government of Northern State in Sudan has reported that around 40,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) have fled worsening conditions in Darfur, Kordofan, and the Al-Awainat border triangle, arriving in the cities of Dongola and Al-Dabba.
According to Abdelrahman Khairi, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid in Northern State, Al-Dabba has received over 6,000 displaced families from El Fasher and Al-Malha in North Darfur, as well as from Al-Nuhoud and Al-Khowei in West Kordofan.
He noted that the deterioration of security in the remote Al-Awainat triangle region has led to serious humanitarian consequences, including an influx of displaced people into Dongola, the state capital. So far, 1,091 people have fled from the Al-Awainat area to Dongola since the outbreak of violence there in June.
Khairi added that the flow of displaced people from Darfur, Kordofan, and Al-Awainat continues, as the state government and humanitarian organizations strive to provide shelter and food to the new arrivals.
He urged the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to intervene and assist in relocating over 5,000 Sudanese IDPs who were forced to flee from the Al-Awainat area across the border into Egypt.
