Mass Grave Discovered at University of Gezira Containing Dozens of Bodies
Follow-ups – Mashawi

Authorities in Gezira State have exhumed 26 graves located within the University of Gezira campus in Nashishiba. Some of the remains are believed to belong to members of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), while others are of civilians who lost their lives.
The university administration filed a report upon discovering the grave site, prompting the public prosecution to initiate an exhumation operation. The effort was carried out in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Police and the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, and included the discovery of the bodies of children.
The intensification of conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF, along with random attacks on populated areas — particularly in Khartoum, Gezira, Darfur, and Kordofan — has created dire conditions for civilians.
Due to the ongoing insecurity, burying the dead in public cemeteries has often been impossible. As a result, many have been buried in open fields, mosque courtyards, schoolyards, university grounds, beneath trees, and even inside abandoned homes.
