Ban on Export and Transport of Strategic Goods Outside North Kordofan

Acting Governor of North Kordofan, Abdel Khaleq Abdel Latif, has issued an emergency decree prohibiting the export and transport of strategic goods — including flour and its derivatives, sugar, rice, lentils, cooking oil, and fuel — outside the boundaries of the state’s cities, especially the capital, El-Obeid, without official permits from the relevant authorities.

For several weeks, the Kordofan region has witnessed fierce battles, with both sides exchanging control over several towns and cities.

Following the recent recapture of the Umm Sumayma area in North Kordofan, the leader of the Sudanese “Justice and Equality Movement” (JEM), Gibril Ibrahim, announced the death of the group’s Kordofan front commander, Tahir Arja.
