Deteriorating Security Situation and Ongoing Violations Against Civilians in Bara
Reports – Mashawir

Amid worsening security conditions and continued widespread violations against civilians in the city of Bara, North Kordofan, fears are mounting of another humanitarian tragedy. The situation follows the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) takeover of the city a week ago, with survivors reporting similar patterns of violence and abuses to those seen earlier in El Fasher.
The locality of Bara and its surrounding areas are witnessing a rapidly escalating wave of displacement and forced migration, as civilians flee RSF attacks. There is growing concern that the humanitarian situation in the region could deteriorate even further.
According to a field report by the Sudan Doctors Network released on Friday, the number of displaced persons from Bara has exceeded 4,500, with about 1,900 already arriving in El Obeid, the state capital. The remaining displaced people — including wounded and injured individuals — are reportedly stranded along the routes and in nearby villages, facing dire humanitarian conditions marked by severe shortages of food, water, and shelter.
Local sources indicated that most families who reached El Obeid were in a state of extreme exhaustion and malnutrition, particularly among children and the elderly. Meanwhile, health facilities in the city are operating far beyond their capacity, struggling with acute shortages of medical staff, essential drugs, and supplies amid a growing influx of displaced people in need of urgent care.
