Support for Communal Kitchens and Charity Meals to Ease Living Hardships in North Darfur
Report – Mashawir

The Acting Governor of North Darfur State, Al-Hafiz Bakhit, has announced the allocation of significant financial support to benefit communal food centers (Takkayas) and charity kitchens operating in neighborhoods across the city of El Fasher, as part of ongoing efforts to alleviate the severe living conditions facing residents.
Bakhit explained that this support is a first step in confronting the humanitarian crisis caused by the prolonged siege on the city, which has led to unprecedented increases in the prices of goods and food supplies.
The governor also formed a specialized committee tasked with regulating markets and combating practices such as price gouging, brokerage, and monopolization of goods, which have further worsened the situation.
He stressed that the state government will continue providing direct aid to the most vulnerable groups and will take strict measures against anyone contributing to the deterioration of the economic and humanitarian conditions in El Fasher.
