24 killed and injured in RSF attack on village in North Kordofan

Yesterday (Friday), Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacked the village of Markaz Al-Ziyadiya in Bara locality, North Kordofan State.

According to the Sudan Doctors Network, the brutal assault on the area resulted in the killing of 16 civilians and the injury of 8 others with varying degrees of severity. This comes amid a communications blackout and a severe shortage of medical staff and essential supplies, after the area’s only health center was partially damaged and went out of service.

The network’s statement confirmed that the militias used both heavy and light weapons during the attack, causing yet another massacre with a large number of civilian casualties, including women and the elderly. Homes and vital facilities in the area were also set on fire.

Witnesses from the area reported that the attack triggered panic and a mass displacement towards neighboring villages.

The network described the attack as a “brutal massacre,” calling on the international community and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to protect civilians in conflict areas, in light of repeated assaults on villages and rural areas in North Kordofan.
