Six Deaths in Kadugli Due to Lack of Healthcare

News Report – Mashawir

Conditions in the city of Kadugli have deteriorated to catastrophic levels due to shortages of food and medicine, forcing around 3,070 residents to flee the city, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Six people, including three children, have died in hospitals in Kadugli, South Kordofan, due to a lack of medicines and treatment.

Medical sources in Kadugli confirmed the deaths of three children from complications of malnutrition and shortages of medicines and food, and three kidney failure patients due to a lack of treatment and dialysis sessions at the city’s hospital. Others are reportedly facing the same fate.

The state is experiencing dire humanitarian conditions as a result of the closure of the main national road linking it to North Kordofan, effectively besieging the cities of Kadugli (the state capital) and Dilling for more than a year. This has severely worsened the suffering of the population, particularly children, women, and the elderly.
