The latest update from the General Coordination for the Displaced in Darfur revealed that the total daily cases since the outbreak of the disease in Darfur have exceeded 5,686 infections, including 248 deaths.
The epidemic continues to spread at unprecedented rates to new areas in Darfur, particularly in Jebel Marra, Zalingei, and displacement camps, while local authorities, humanitarian organizations, volunteers, and emergency rooms struggle to contain the outbreak despite severe shortages of medical supplies.
The city of El Fasher remains under the grip of escalating acute hunger that has claimed dozens of lives, alongside the spread of cholera and other diseases, amid a suffocating siege imposed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for more than a year and a half. The city’s displaced population is also at the mercy of ongoing artillery shelling and daily clashes.
