Civil and Humanitarian Groups Call for Safe Corridors to Evacuate Trapped Civilians in El Fasher

Follow-ups – Mashawir

Local civil and humanitarian organizations have urgently called for the establishment of safe humanitarian corridors to evacuate 260,000 civilians trapped in El Fasher, including 130,000 children.

In a joint statement, the groups warned that time is running out for civilians as the siege on the city has lasted for more than 500 days. They accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of using starvation as a weapon of war by preventing the entry of food and life-saving humanitarian aid.

The statement added that the RSF has set up more than 38 kilometers of earthen barricades around the outskirts of the city to control the movement of residents in and out of El Fasher from all directions.

It further stressed that international inaction in responding to the crisis is worsening the loss of lives, pointing out that statements and verbal condemnations alone will not save civilians, while effective action from the international community remains capable of halting the massacres.
