International Organization for Migration: Displaced People in Darfur Lack Basic Living Conditions

Agencies – Mashawir

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported the displacement of 1,510 people from the city of El Fasher over a period of five days, due to escalating fighting and insecurity.

In a statement, the organization said: “The latest wave of displacement occurred between 15 and 19 October as a result of the deteriorating security situation and ongoing clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in and around the city.”

The statement added that “the displaced have scattered across various locations in El Fasher and Tawila, in North Darfur, while the situation remains tense and volatile, raising concerns over a worsening humanitarian crisis.”

The organization urged international humanitarian agencies to take immediate action to provide support and assistance to the displaced people, who lack the most basic necessities of life.
