SPLM-N Accuses Sudanese Army of Bombing Civilians in Its Areas of Control

Mashawir – Reports

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N) led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu accused the Sudanese army of bombing populated civilian areas under its control, resulting in the death of 45 people, most of them school students, and injuring eight others, including women and children, in the town of Kumo in South Kordofan.

For more than a week, military confrontations have steadily escalated between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), along with their ally the SPLM-N in South Kordofan, after the latter two launched two attacks on the army’s Kertala garrison in an effort to obstruct troop movements and prevent the lifting of the siege on the cities of Kadugli and Dilling.

Meanwhile, Sudanese army forces and allied groups carried out large-scale operations on Sunday, resulting in the recapture of the towns of Al-Damrah and Tabessa, west of Al-Abbasiya—the largest city in South Kordofan—from SPLM-N forces.

Field sources indicated that the progress made by the army and its allied groups will likely enhance their chances of advancing into other areas toward oil field sites in West Kordofan.
