The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, is scheduled to begin an official visit to Sudan this Wednesday, January 14, continuing through Sunday, January 18.
According to a press release from the Commission, Türk will hold meetings in Port Sudan with government authorities, civil society representatives, and the United Nations country team.
The High Commissioner’s itinerary includes a visit to Northern State, where he will meet with humanitarian partners and visit camps housing internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the Darfur and Kordofan regions.
The visit will conclude on Sunday with a press conference in Port Sudan, followed by a subsequent press briefing in Nairobi, Kenya.
