Rights Groups Visit Displacement Camps in Sudan to Document Crimes and Violations

Follow-ups - Mashawir

A delegation from the National Mechanism for Human Rights and the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law has begun a visit to displacement camps for people from Kordofan and Darfur in the Northern State. The visit aims to document the crimes and violations suffered by the displaced, identify the needs of the camps, and assess the support provided by international organizations.

Shazali Al-Haj Mustafa, Deputy Head of the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Department at the Ministry of Justice and head of the joint delegation, explained that the Mechanism will assess the scale of the repeated and deliberate attacks carried out by the “Rapid Support Forces” (RSF) on civilian objects at the Merowe Dam power station. These attacks led to the shutdown of hospitals, water treatment plants, and other vital facilities in several cities.

The delegation received a briefing from the Ministry of Social Welfare regarding housing efforts and services provided to the displaced in the fields of health, food, shelter, education, and security.

As of today, the number of displaced families in the state has reached approximately 4,300 families at the “Al-Affad” camp.
