Documentation of Killings and Kidnappings of Civilians in West Kordofan

Follow-ups - Mashaweer

The Dar Hamar Emergency Room has revealed a widespread wave of violence in the Abuzaid locality and surrounding areas resulting from attacks by the “Rapid Support Forces” (RSF).

A statement from the Emergency Room confirmed the documentation of the direct killing and indiscriminate shelling of 91 civilians. Additionally, it recorded 53 cases of citizen abductions, where individuals were taken to unknown locations. This has led to massive waves of forced displacement and the complete emptying of several villages.

Amidst these conditions, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, expressed deep concern over the accelerating pace of civilian armament, child recruitment, and the expanding militarization of society by the warring parties in Sudan.

At the conclusion of his four-day visit to Sudan, the High Commissioner explained that Sudanese people have endured “hell and horrors” as fighting expands in the Kordofan region. He noted that this raises fears of a repeat of the El Fasher scenario, a city seized by the RSF after an 18-month siege, during which civilians were forced to eat animal feed to survive.
