Abdalla Hamdok, former Sudanese Prime Minister and head of the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces “Sumoud,” praised the support of friendly countries and international and regional organizations for the Berlin Conference on Sudan, which was held to mark the third anniversary of the outbreak of the war.
Hamdok expressed his appreciation to Germany, the United Kingdom, France, the United States, the African Union, and the European Union, as well as the Quintet Group—which includes the African Union, IGAD, the League of Arab States, the European Union, and the United Nations—for providing Sudanese civilian forces with the opportunity to consult and exchange views on ending the war and building peace.
He stated that the conference reflected a “genuine international political will to stand in solidarity with the Sudanese people in their hardship and to intensify efforts to put an end to the senseless war.
