The United Nations Expresses Concern Over Tribal Violence in Darfur

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has expressed concern over tribal violence in Darfur following recent clashes between the Salamat and Beni Halba tribes in South Darfur State. The fighting reportedly left dozens of people dead on both sides and displaced an estimated 13,500 others.

The United Nations renewed its calls on all parties to uphold their obligations to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, and to facilitate rapid, safe, and sustained humanitarian access without obstruction.

The UN also stressed that additional funding is critically needed to ensure the continuation of life-saving assistance for millions of people in need across Sudan. :::
