The Sudanese Red Crescent Society, North Kordofan State Branch, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has carried out environmental sanitation campaigns in several displacement camps in El Obeid, aimed at improving sanitary conditions and reducing the risk of disease and epidemic outbreaks.

According to volunteer activist in North Kordofan, Yasser Mahmoud, who spoke to Mashaweer, the campaigns included cleaning activities, waste removal, and efforts to improve the overall environment inside the camps, with the participation of Red Crescent volunteers and displaced people. The activities also included awareness sessions on the importance of personal and public hygiene and proper waste disposal methods.

Mahmoud explained that, “The intervention responds to the health needs of displaced people and contributes to providing a safer and healthier environment within the shelters, while also strengthening community participation in maintaining cleanliness and preventing health risks.”
