Rising Cases of Enforced Disappearances in Sudan

Kampala – Mashawir

Cases of enforced disappearances in Sudan have recently surged, according to human rights lawyer and activist Noon Kashkoush, a member of the “Missing” Center for Enforced Disappearances.

She revealed that “the number of missing persons has exceeded 24,000 documented cases as of December 2025.”

Kashkoush stated that “these figures represent an extremely alarming indicator of the security and human rights situation in Sudan,” noting that the rise comes amid increasing repression targeting civil activists, who are facing enforced disappearance at an accelerating rate.

She added that “these cases reflect a severe deterioration in the state of human rights in the country under the current conditions.”
