Inflation Raises Living Costs and Fuels Market Pressures in Sudan

Khartoum – Mashawir

Sudan’s Central Bureau of Statistics announced that the country’s inflation rate rose to 45.84 percent in April, compared to 40.84 percent in March, marking an increase of 5 percent within a single month.

This sharp rise reflects mounting pressure on the economy due to the continued decline in the value of the Sudanese pound against foreign currencies, which has led to significant increases in the prices of goods and services.

The Central Bureau of Statistics confirmed that the data was collected from 16 Sudanese states, while prices in North Darfur and Central Darfur states were estimated because of the security situation and ongoing war.

The report indicated that Sudanese families spend more than half of their income on food and beverages, making any increase in prices a direct burden on their daily lives.
