Kidney Dialysis Centers Shut Down and Rising Child Deaths in Kadugli

Follow-ups – Mashaweer

The cities of Dilling and Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan State, are experiencing severe humanitarian hardship and a dramatic deterioration in living and health conditions due to acute shortages of food and medicine, caused by the blockade and the closure of the national road linking the region to North Kordofan.

The health situation in Kadugli has worsened further with the spread of cholera, a sharp shortage of life-saving medicines, and a lack of treatment for chronic diseases in hospitals. In addition, kidney dialysis centers and surgical units have shut down, while maternal and child deaths during childbirth have risen, alongside widespread child malnutrition.

With trade routes closed and supplies halted, basic goods have completely disappeared from local markets, while the few available items are being sold at exorbitant prices.

Humanitarian workers have warned that the situation in Kadugli is heading toward a catastrophic explosion unless urgent humanitarian interventions are made and roads reopened to allow aid deliveries to save lives.
