Large demonstrations took place yesterday (Thursday) in the city of Atbara, protesting fuel shortages and the rising price of bread, which ranged between 3 to 4 loaves for 1,000 Sudanese pounds depending on the bakery.
According to a correspondent from “Al-Hadaf,” the city is experiencing an unprecedented rise in prices and frequent electricity outages, in addition to a sharp increase in rents, leaving the public in a state of tension.
Observers point out that Atbara was at the forefront of the Sudanese revolution in 2019, which was triggered by rising bread prices, giving these current protests a significant historical dimension.
