Siege of Dilling Triggers Humanitarian Crisis and Reports of Famine

Follow-ups – Mashawir

At least four people were killed and several others wounded following a drone strike launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), targeting both civilian and military sites in the city of Dilling, located in South Kordofan State.

Earlier this week, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) succeeded in cutting off the main national road between Kadugli and Dilling after seizing control of the strategic Al-Dashoul station in fierce battles against the Sudanese army.

The SPLM also launched artillery shells that landed inside Dilling, resulting in the destruction of several homes and injuries among civilians.

Since the early months of the conflict, Dilling has been under a severe siege due to the shifting control map between the warring parties in South Kordofan. The blockade has created a dire humanitarian crisis, with reports emerging of famine caused by the acute shortage of food and medical supplies.
