Sudan’s Health Ministry Reports Decline in Dengue Fever and Malaria Rates in Khartoum

Reports – Mashawir

The Khartoum State Ministry of Health has announced a notable decline in the spread of dengue fever and malaria across the state, following the implementation of a large-scale household inspection campaign involving around 7,000 community health workers. The campaign aimed to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and raise public awareness about the importance of eradicating disease vectors.

The ministry expressed optimism that dengue fever cases will continue to decline as the household inspection campaigns progress, with the ultimate goal of declaring Khartoum State free of dengue fever.

It also noted a significant drop in hospital visits related to dengue infections.

In recent weeks, Khartoum State had experienced a widespread outbreak of both dengue fever and malaria, compounded by acute shortages of medicines and intravenous fluids, which led to crowded pharmacies and overburdened health facilities as patients sought scarce treatments.
