International Coordination to Implement Sudan’s Strategic Health Sector Plan

Reports – Mashawir

Sudanese Prime Minister Kamel Idris emphasized the importance of coordination with international bodies and organizations to implement the comprehensive strategic plan for the country’s health sector.

Addressing the National Forum of Health Sector Partners, Idris stated that the health platform represents a major step forward for the health sector through strengthened monitoring and coordination within the Sudanese state.

He stressed that the “white army” — the nation’s health workers — form the backbone of the desired health development.

For his part, Federal Health Minister Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim highlighted the significant efforts made to restore health services following the war waged by militias, noting the sector’s transition from emergency response to recovery, reconstruction, and development.

Ibrahim explained that the ministry has developed a reconstruction plan through phased projects in cooperation with partners and UN agencies operating in Sudan, with the goal of achieving universal health coverage and improved public health outcomes.
