Night Patrols by Volunteers to Monitor Floods and Build Earthen Barriers in Khartoum Neighborhoods
Reports – Mashawir

Dozens of volunteers in Khartoum State have organized night patrols to monitor water levels and construct earthen barriers to prevent further floodwaters from the White Nile from reaching neighborhoods in southern Khartoum, after waters swept across large open areas and entered some homes in the Al-Shegilab area.
Videos circulating on social media showed floodwaters from the Nile completely submerging houses and farms in the Tandalti area, north of Khartoum.
Residents have called on local authorities to urgently provide equipment and resources for building protective earthen dams, along with water pumps to drain flooded neighborhoods and homes near the White Nile that have been inundated by the rising waters.
Warnings from the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation confirmed that the danger remains, as several main stations have already entered flood stage, including Jebel Aulia in Khartoum, Madani in Gezira State, and Shendi and Atbara in River Nile State.
