Al-Burhan: We Will Not Sit with the “Rapid Support Forces” Unless They Lay Down Their Arms, and We Will Not Allow the Muslim Brotherhood to Return Under Any Circumstances

Mashawir – Reports

Sudan’s Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, said that the Sudanese government will not engage in talks with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) unless they lay down their weapons, withdraw, and hand over their arms — a fundamental condition for the success of any truce.

Al-Burhan, according to Al-Hadath TV, stated that the solution in Sudan is primarily a military one, after which other political solutions may follow. He also denied the presence of the Muslim Brotherhood within the army or any link between them and the government.

He stressed that militias cannot be allowed to return, as normal life cannot be restored while they remain, and that the state will only accept a single unified army under the command of the armed forces.

Al-Burhan denied accusations of Muslim Brotherhood influence within the army, describing them as entirely false. He emphasized that the Sudanese people overthrew the Brotherhood during the December 2018 revolution, adding: “We will not allow them — or the RSF — to return under any circumstance.”

He reiterated his openness to any opportunity that could achieve genuine peace, praising the efforts of Saudi Arabia and the United States, particularly the role of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the U.S. president.

Al-Burhan declared the armed forces’ readiness to engage positively with the joint Saudi-American initiative, warning at the same time that any unilateral initiative cannot succeed.
