The World Health Organization (WHO), marking World Humanitarian Day, said that 22 attacks on healthcare facilities and services were recorded in Sudan during 2026.
The organization explained that the attacks resulted in the deaths of 195 people and injuries to 326 healthcare workers and patients.
The WHO noted that these attacks accounted for 2.6 percent of all reported attacks, but caused 21.5 percent of the deaths and 22 percent of the injuries.
The organization stressed that attacks on healthcare constitute a violation of international humanitarian law, emphasizing the need to protect humanitarian workers and ensure that they are not targeted.
