Central Darfur – Mashaweer

The “Wadi Salih” Youth Initiative for Peace and Development in Central Darfur State organized an awareness-raising workshop on peacebuilding and peaceful coexistence, with the participation of a number of young people and community activists. The workshop was part of the initiative’s efforts to promote a culture of peace and strengthen social cohesion.

The workshop addressed concepts of peace, dialogue, and acceptance of others, as well as the role of youth in resolving conflicts through peaceful means and promoting cooperation and tolerance among different components of society. It also highlighted the risks of violence and hate speech and their impact on the social fabric.

Speaking to Mashaweer, initiative member Hassan Nour El-Din said, “Young people represent a fundamental force in peacebuilding efforts, and strengthening their participation in community initiatives enables them to contribute effectively to resolving disputes and reducing tensions within communities.”

He added, “Promoting a culture of dialogue, acceptance of diversity, and rejection of hate speech requires sustained efforts and safe spaces for discussion.”

He affirmed that “the initiative will continue implementing activities targeting young people and the wider community to promote peaceful coexistence and support stability.”

The initiative also affirmed its commitment to continuing its programs and activities aimed at building a society characterized by peace, coexistence, and sustainable development, based on its belief in the role of young people in making peace and building a more stable future.
